Finally!

Somethings are simply beyond the scope of our understanding. What are on the other sides of black holes? How does life thrive deep in the oceans where there is no light or heat? How does Renee Zelweger keep ending up on World's sexiest women lists? There are things we are just never meant to know. One of these questions is why when a movie is released in theaters, why are some only released in certain areas and some arent? One of the films I have been looking forward to this year is RocknRolla. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who also directed 2 of my favorite films; Lock, Stock and two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. RocknRolla was released the first week in October but only in the "big" markets like New York and Los Angeles. On Halloween weekend it was released everywhere else except for one very important place, HERE! No theatre in Upper East Tennessee had this film. The closest one was in Knoxville and it was only in ONE theatre there! WHY? This is something I just couldnt figure out. Well, a friend and I decided to make the trip. Not only for the film, but just to do soemthing different instead of just running around Johnson City like we do every weekend. Fortunately we had a great time, found probably the worlds best Used Book and Cd store and got to see a great movie. If you have seen A Guy Ritchie movie then you should already know what kind of movie this was going to be, especially if you have seen Snatch. RocknRolla takes quite a few inspirations from Snatch including a priceless artifact that keeps changing hands among a select group of criminals and Russians who are extremely hard to kill. While his first two movies featured many of the same cast, Guy Ritchie used alomst an entirely new cast for RocknRolla including Thandie Newton, Tom Wilkinson and Gerard Butler, who all did oustanding jobs acting in this film. I have been trying to find a way to summarize this film but I seriously dont think I can. It had lots of action, humor and great characters. If you liked Snatch at all, this film is right up your alley. I give RocknRolla, on the Heath Scale a score of 9 out of 10.

In my serious honest opinion, Christina Aguilera is the best singer of our generation. There is no one who even comes close to her talent. Plus shes very hot when she doesnt cover her self up in so much make up that you wonder if she has a side job with Barnum and Bailey.

A world of change, this time more serious

Yea, its been a while since I have posted on here. Got a few questions why I have not said anything about the elections or the ousting of Philip Fulmer as head coach of the Tennessee Vols. As far as the elections go, I am not a fan of Obama, neither am I a fan of John McCain. I really didnt care who was elected as long as Bush is gone. Anything has to be better than the last few years.
Seeing Fulmer step down as the head coach is something I thought I would never see. I sure wanted it to happen, but it just seemed no matter how bad we did, the only certain thing was that he would be back. Now I just hope we can get a good coach who can come in and revitalize this program and soon return us to where we belong and that at the top of the SEC. As I have stated before, I am not a big fan of change but sometimes, it just needs to happen.

A step in the right direction

Finally, After two weeks of mediocre movies, I got to see a pretty good film. Zack and Miri Make a porno is pretty much what the title says it is. Kinda like Snakes on a Plane, the title gets straight to the point. Directed by fanboy director Kevin Smith, two life long friends played by Judd Apatow film vets Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks, who also live together but are not together, are way behind on their bills. After having thier utilities turned off they decide the only way to get the money they need is to shoot a prnographic film that they can sell tho their former class mates. Bascially from there is the pattern for every comedic movie from hollywood where the main characters strive to achive something monumentous. They set up, something goes wrong, they almost give up, a miraculous solution presents itself and they are finally able to do what they need to do. Over the course of filming, our two main characters finally, after knowing each other for their entire lives and living together for who knows how many years, realize that they love each other. Zack and Miri does have some language and a few scenes of questionable content but in the end is a predictable and sweet movie that has as many endearing moments as it does laugh out loud moments. On the Heath Scale, I give Zack and Miri make a porno a score of 6.5 out of 10.
